Interview With Mae Ang: Creator Of Our Baby Milestone Cards
Oftentimes, new parents wonder what to expect after their little one’s arrival and how to determine if their baby’s development is on track. Beyond checking off everything on your baby essential checklist, finding a way to keep track of all the precious moments is crucial. After all, time is something that you can never get back!
In such cases, baby milestone cards come in incredibly handy. Baby milestone cards are beautifully illustrated development cards that may be used to record all of your baby’s developmental milestones. When your child reaches a milestone, snap a photo of them with the corresponding card. That way, you’ll always have something to look back on to remember your baby’s first year.
the baby closet has collaborated with artist, architect and designer Mae Ang to create a collection of baby milestone cards for parents to capture their babies’ precious moments.
We asked Mae a couple of questions to delve into her thought process and inspiration behind these wonderfully magnificent milestone cards. Keep on reading to learn more!
Interviewer: Tell us a bit about yourself!
Mae: Hi! My name is Mae and I am an architect. I enjoy creating in my spare time.
Interviewer: Where did you get your inspiration when designing the milestone cards?
Mae: I designed my first milestone cards for my sister when she was expecting my niece. As she could not find something that met exactly what she liked, she asked if I could design a set for her.
We had many conversations about what milestones she wanted to capture and record, and from there, I really enjoyed the process.
I wanted a set of cards inspired by what my niece had. I hope that all parents can have something nice to document their little one’s milestones.
Interviewer: Which is your favourite print during the designing phase?
Mae: Each print holds a special place in my heart, as it took me about a year to conceptualise and refine the drawings. But I especially enjoyed creating the marine life-themed cards -- the turtles, whales and more.
Also, all the cards include writing space at the back so one can journal their thoughts and aspirations for their little one. It can be something for them and their child to reminisce about when they are older.
Interviewer: Who did you have in mind when designing the milestone cards?
Mae: For parents of babies looking to document their child’s early years. I hope they enjoy using them as much as I enjoyed making them.
They also make perfect gifts for friends and family who are looking for one-of-a-kind baby shower gifts!
Interviewer: What’s next for you?
Mae: We recently welcomed a little girl into our family and are taking it one day at a time. It’s tiring but very rewarding. And yes, I use the milestone cards myself!
